2 Fatal Accidents In Marion County

Illinois State Police report two fatal accidents in Marion County Saturday morning.

The first accident occurred at 7:37 AM on Vermundy Road a quarter mile west of Garrett Road. 63 year old Mitchell Norris, of Vernon, was traveling eastbound on Vermundy Road when he drove off the roadway. His vehicle overturned and he was fatally injured.

In the second accident, 44 year old Christopher Campbell, of Salem, was traveling southbound on Selmaville Road at National Road just before 10 AM when he reportedly failed to reduce speed on a curve and drove off the roadway. Campbell struck a sign before his Harley Davidson came to a rest.

Campbell lost his life in the accident and his passenger, 40 year old Amanda Charlton, also of Salem, was airlifted to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
