The 2019 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll finds Webster University atop the 10 team league this fall. Webster is the overwhelming favorites after picking up 9 first-place votes from the coaches and a total of 81 points. They are followed by the trio of Fontbonne University, Westminster College, and Greenville University who are expected to continue their games into the postseason.
Greenville University totaled 62 points, coming in 4th place on the poll and received the only other first-place vote from the league coaches. The Panthers return eight starters from last year’s team that advanced to the SLIAC Tournament Championship game. Although they graduated their top scorer, Dani Pearce, the Panthers bring back their next two top scorers in Breanna Thomas and Kate Arthur. Thomas recorded 10 goals and 10 assists last season while Arthur finished with 11 goals and 4 assists. With 19 goals in her first two seasons Jade Taylor is another player that will add to the scoring punch. Midfielders Ellie Cummins and Michelle Grotefendt will be key in controlling the middle of the field for the Panthers.
