Martha Lehmkuhl, age 95 of Carlyle, passed away at Breese Nursing Home on Monday, August 19, 2019.
Martha was born in Madison, Illinois on November 19, 1923, a daughter of Carl and Anna (Lehrmann) Zacharias. She worked as a secretary at Metropolitan Life in St. Louis and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. Martha loved animals, especially her cats. She also enjoyed gardening and talking to people, as she knew no strangers.
Martha is survived by her nieces and nephews – Janice Strotheide and husband Clyde, Doris Florczyk and husband David, Julie Thole and husband Allen, David Woker and wife Brenda, James Woker and wife Linda, Al Wagner and wife Janet, and Glen Wagner and wife Pam. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Carl and Anna Zacharias; her adoptive parents – John and Katherine Lehmkuhl; 2 brothers – Rudy Wehmueller and Edward Woker and wife Esther; a sister – Lydia Wagner and husband Frank; and a nephew – Bob Wagner.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle with Rev. Scott Schilbe, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Carlyle. Visitation will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Thursday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M.
