Parade Closes Out Bond County Fair

A large crowd descended on the Bond County Fairgrounds Tuesday night to enjoy the final night of activities.

The parade was once again the biggest attraction of the fair, in terms of drawing visitors, and the grand finale was an outstanding fireworks show.

At the parade, ribbons were given to floats in three divisions.

Among the professional floats, Randy’s Country Barn received first place. The Dudleyville 4-H Club was second, FNB Community Bank, third; and Bradford National Bank, fourth.

The winning float in the non-professional class was submitted by the Girl Scouts of Bond and Fayette Counties. Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Greenville placed second, HSHS Holy Family Hospital was third and Mulberry Grove FFA took fourth.

In the division with youths riding on floats, the first place entry was the Bond County Crush softball team. Second place went to the Jaguars softball team, third place to the Junior Comets football program and fourth place to the Mulberry Grove trap shooting team.

The Bond County Unit 2 Marching Comets were in the parade along with the Ma-Cli-Bo Shriner circus animals and the Shriner’s Tin Lizzie Patrol cars. Leading the parade was a veteran’s color guard consisting of members of the Bond County VFW and AMVETS groups, and a Shriner’s color guard also marched.

Riding in the parade were the Queen, Junior Miss and Little Miss participants.
