Soccer Comets Fall In Tournament Action

In their first game at the St. Anthony Tournament Tuesday in Effingham, the Greenville High School soccer boys were edged by the host school 4-3.

Scoring for the Comets were Desmond Gardner, Tim Ordonez and Dima Powell. Freshman Josh James had eight saves in his first varsity start as goalie.

The Comets continue action in the tournament Thursday against Newton, in a game to be played at Teutopolis.

The tourney wraps up Saturday with the Comets playing at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The soccer boys opened their season last Monday and lost at Breese Central 7-0.

The Comets play at Mater Dei Tuesday and have their first home game September 6 against Centralia.
