Tentative Unit Two Budget Approved

At a recent special meeting, the Bond County Unit 2 Board of Education approved a tentative budget for the 2019-20 year.

The document is available for review at the district office until the board’s September 16 meeting.

Superintendent Wes Olson told WGEL the budget projects a deficit, but that could change by the time it’s adopted in September. He said the board tries to be conservative on what revenues will be and aim higher with expenditures. He pointed out last year’s budget was also projected to have a deficit, but ended up surplus. Olson said the district must also repay some State Board of Education grant money that they did not utilize in full, which shows as an expenditure in the budget.
