Two Injured In Accident Monday

A single vehicle accident occurred on Rocky Mountain Avenue, southwest of Greenville at 4:42 p.m. Monday.

The driver and a passenger were taken by ambulance to HSHS Holy Family Hospital for treatment.

Robert W. Roy, age 17 of Greenville, was driving the car westbound.

He told a deputy he swerved the vehicle to avoid a raccoon and lost control. The car struck a mailbox and came to rest in a ditch.

Bond County Sheriff Jim Leitschuh told WGEL that after further investigation, the driver was issued citations for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, reckless driving and improper lane usage.

The passenger was identified as Kaleb Lawrence of Pocahontas.
