Workman Sworn In As Chief

Scott Workman was sworn in Thursday morning as the new chief of police for the City of Greenville.

City Clerk Sue Ann Nelson administered the oath.

With family and friends gathered, Workman recited the oath to become head of a department he has worked for since December of 1994.

The new chief said his appointment accomplishes a goal. He said he has made Greenville his home, raised his family here, and he really enjoys it.

He was asked his view of the role the police department should play. He said they should serve and protect and make everyone feel safe in their home. He said they’re here to help and cooperation from the community is a big plus.
