The Greenville Comets boys’ soccer team continued its excellent play in the South Central Conference Tuesday night at Staunton.
The local squad recorded a 3-2 win in a game that was decided in a shootout.
Tim Ordonez scored the Comets’ two goals in regulation time, putting the ball in the net during the first half on an assist from Desmond Gardner, and converting a penalty kick in the second half.
It was 2-2 after regulation time.
The Comets scored on four of five shootout kicks. Successful players included Ordonez, Brock Thacker, Tyler Rieke and Brett Schauwecker.
Staunton missed its first shootout kick, scored on the second, and then GHS goalie Brock Kenny made a save to seal the victory.
Kenny had 15 saves in the game.
The Comets are 4-1 in conference action.
