After being sentenced in late August to state prison on a second degree murder charge, a St. Peter man has filed a motion to have his sentence reconsidered.
Alexander Beccue, age 26, was sentenced to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on the second degree murder conviction, and 10 years for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
The terms run concurrently and the defendant receives credit for 748 days already spent in jail.
The sentences were handed down by Circuit Court Judge Don Schaefor.
Beccue filed the motion to reconsider sentence on Monday.
In June, a Fayette County jury deliberated two hours and 40 minutes then returned guilty verdicts on the two charges.
Beccue shot and killed Joshua K. Smith of Ramsey on August 11, 2017. The incident occurred in a Ramsey residence.
