Big Total Announced During LRCF Celebration

It was a festive Saturday night as the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation held its Celebration of Life.

At the end of the event, following the solemn luminary ceremony, Gina Goldsmith, from the foundation, reported the amount of money raised Saturday night and during the past year came to $48,328.18. $5,328.18 was raised at the event Saturday.

The yearly total of $48,328 includes over $18,000 raised in the WGEL Celebrity Pie Auction this past week.

Patti Brooks, foundation member, thanked everyone who supports the cancer foundation, noting those who volunteer with the foundation are honored to help families in their battle with cancer.

Featured speaker at the opening ceremony was Brenda Lohman from Greenville.

Jerry Lewis of Smithboro, was the lucky winner of the 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 donated to the LRCF in memory of Jason Sugg and Connie Borror.

The Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation provides financial assistance to Bond County residents battling cancer.
