FNB Honoring Area Students

The FNB Community Bank is continuing their Student of the Month program for a second year. The program honors a Student of the Month at high schools in Vandalia, Ramsey, Patoka, Mulberry Grove and Greenville. One student will be selected at each school from September through April and will receive a $50 check, recognition on The FNB’s Facebook page, and an invitation to a special ceremony at the end of the school year. Students are nominated by school staff and monthly winners are selected by a panel of bank employees. To qualify, the student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, display leadership skills, demonstrate good moral character, be active in extracurricular activities, and express future goals and/or college plans.

The new program coordinator, Alexa Campbell, is excited to continue the work of the program’s founder, Alex Miller. Campbell believes the vision of the program, to bring recognition to students for their excellence both in and out of school, is important for the growth of the students and the community surrounding them. Campbell commented, “Students are used to being assessed in a classroom setting. Some are even assessed on fields or in gyms; but, all students have the capability to be people of great character, no matter where they are or what they are doing, to make a difference in the world.” The program was very well received in its inaugural year and The FNB hopes that trend continues with this new crop of students. Campbell adds, “It is a humbling opportunity to be part of such an empowering program in the communities where I live and work. Knowing that the school administrators and staff agree, and hearing their positive feedback about the program and their students, is an incredible thing to be part of.” The FNB appreciates the excitement and support for the continuance of this program.

FNB Marketing Director John Goldsmith said, “The Student of the Month program provides us with an opportunity to recognize and encourage our future leaders. Our area young people are doing some truly amazing things and we’re happy to shine the spotlight on them.”

Additional information is being sent to the schools about the nominating process. September nominations will be due September 20 with winners announced September 30.
