Marcoot Jersey Creamery, south of Greenville, has entered into a partnership with the non-profit group, the WakWay Foundation.
The foundation impacts lives through innovative food repurposing programs.
A percentage of Marcoot Creamery’s sales of Extreme Ice Pro will go to the foundation to support its mission. Earlier this year, the local businesses President Amy Marcoot met with foundation founder, Don Wakamatsu, a former pro baseball player and current major league coach.
He visited the creamery and learned how Marcoot Creamery uses whey, a byproduct of cheese making used in its Extreme Ice Pro.
Wakamatsu said Extreme Ice is an innovative way to provide protein, not only professional athletes, but anyone looking to be healthier.
Extreme Ice was launched nationwide in April of this year, and a version is available at retail outlets such as Dierbergs Markets and the Marcoot Jersey Creamery Country Store.
