Pleads To Attempted Murder & Home Invasion

A Greenville man will be sentenced in November on charges of attempted murder and home invasion.

Daniel Tupou, age 31, was in Bond County Circuit Court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and home invasion. Three women were stabbed at a Greenville home on September 26. 2018.

A charge of aggravated battery was dismissed as part of the plea negotiations.

Sentencing has been scheduled for November 1. The parties have agreed the sentence cap will be 22 years in prison. Probation is not possible in the case.

The incidents occurred at homes along West Harris Avenue. Police reported two of the female victims were stabbed in the back and one in the stomach and back. The victims have recovered.

The home invasion occurred at a house across the street from the residence where the stabbings occurred. One of the women fled to that house. The charge alleges Tupou went inside that residence. He was quickly arrested by police outside of that house.
