Soccer Comets Now 5-1 In SCC

The Greenville High School soccer Comets are 5-1 in the South Central Conference after beating Gillespie/Litchfield, 4-3, last week.

Coach Chance Vohlken said his team controlled the action the last two-thirds of the game.

Timothy Ordonez scored two goals while Brock Thacker and Desmond Gardner had one apiece. Credited with assists were Thacker, Tyler Rieke and Ordonez.

Friday, the Comets fell to Altamont 4-3.

The Indians led 3-1 at halftime and held on for the win.

Scoring goals for GHS were Rieke, Gardner and Ordonez.

The soccer Comets play at GCS Field in Sauget Monday against Wood River, go to Vandalia Tuesday and to Lincolnwood Thursday.

Tuesday, October 8, the Comets play their final regular season home game against Southwestern Piasa. It will be senior night.
