Sorento Parade Shortened By Rain

The parade at the Sorento Fall Festival began in sprinkles Sunday at 4 p.m., but it wasn’t completed.

As the units were going through the downtown area, the rain clouds opened up causing a downpour and ending the parade.

First place winner in the float In-Town Division was the Girl Scouts and first place in the out-of-town category went to the Bond Country Secret Santa Society.

A veterans’ color guard led the parade, followed by a wagon with veterans from the Pocahontas American Legion.

The Bond County Unit 2 High School Marching Comets were in the parade as were Miss Bond County Fair Shelbi McCray and Junior Miss Adrianna Lohman.

Earlier in the day many vendor booths were open, a car-motorcycle show was held and live music was performed.

The Bond County Unit 2 FFA had a small petting zoo and the Ag In The Classroom trailer was at the festival.
