Greenville District firemen responded to an alarm at 11:52 a.m. Wednesday.
A fire was reported at a field near Dudleyville Road, south of Greenville.
When they arrived at the scene, firefighters found a fire at the edge of a standing corn field. The department reported the flames spread from a nearby burn pile.
By the time firemen extinguished the flames, the fire had burned into about 10 rows of corn.
The department was on the scene approximately 40 minutes.
