The Bond County Farm Service Agency office in Greenville is now open just one day a week.
Brad Grotefendt, executive director for the Bond and Madison County offices, reported to WGEL the Bond County office is open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Since the Bond County facility no longer has employees, which has been the case since March, the Madison County office will send staff members to Greenville on Wednesdays. Until now, Madison County had been staffing the local office five days a week.
Grotefendt said the reduced hours at the Bond County office are for an indefinite time.
Those wanting to visit the Bond County office on a Wednesday are encouraged to call the Madison County office at 618-656-7300. This will allow employees to make sure the records of the farm owner or operator are available. Persons can also call the number any time to ask questions.
Grotefendt said the reduction in office hours should not be a surprise, because all county farm owners and operators were notified by letter in early August.
He also indicated multi-county Farm Service Agency arrangements are not uncommon as there are at least 15 in the State of Illinois.
