Harold J. “Harry” Knebel, age 98 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.
He was born July 23, 1921, in Greenville, IL, the son of Clarence and Amanda (nee Beck) Knebel.
On March 10, 1947, he married Jean F. Wise at Edwardsville, IL. She passed away on July 07, 2018.
He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was also a member of VFW Post # 5694, Highland, IL (Charter Member).
Harry was born on his grandfather’s farm in rural Greenville, IL. He grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1939. He then farmed with his father and later served with the US Navy until January of 1946, during World War II. After the war he continued to farm, later he sold farm equipment for 4-5-6 (now McGinnley) in Highland. He then worked for Basler Electric in Highland, as a customer service manager, for 27 years, retiring in 1984. He and his wife celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2007. Harry collected antiques, and traveled to New England, Canada, California and the Southwest.

Mother – Amanda S. Knebel (nee Beck) – Died 9/29/1994
Wife – Jean Felicitas Knebel (nee Wise) – Died 7/7/2018
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Private Graveside Services will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
