Highland Native In MLB Playoffs


Highland area residents will get the thrill of watching one of their own in the major league baseball playoffs tonight.

Jake Odorizzi is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Minnesota Twins when they face the New York Yankees in Minnesota for game three of the American League Division series. Game time is 7:40 p.m.

The Yankees won the first two games in the best-of-five series.

Odorizzi is a 2008 graduate of Highland High School. The right-handed pitcher is in his eighth major league season.

He was selected to the AL all-star team this past summer.

Odorizzi finished the regular season with a fine 15-7 overall record, helping the Twins win the Central Division in the American League. He had a 3.51 earned run average in 30 starts.
