Season Ends For Soccer Comets

The season came to an end for the Greenville High School boys’ soccer team last Friday.

Playing at home in a Class 1A regional quarterfinal game, the Comets were defeated by Trenton Wesclin 4-1.

In other regional Class 1A games last week, Breese Central blanked Lebanon 6-0, Lincolnwood edged Pana 2-1, North Mac defeated Carlinville 3-0, Effingham St. Anthony topped Vandalia 7-0, Roxana beat Metro East Lutheran 5-0 and Staunton downed Southwestern 8-0.

In regional semifinal games Tuesday, Mater Dei hosts two games. The Knights face Wesclin and Carlyle meets Salem. At Teutopolis, St. Anthony plays Teutopolis and Newton battles Altamont.

At Alton Marquette, it will be Staunton against Marquette and Hillsboro against Wood River. At Belleville, Father McGivney plays Roxana.
