70 Soldier Care Packages Made Saturday


Military personnel from Bond County will soon be receiving boxes of goodies, courtesy of the Military Moms of Bond County Operation Care Package Program.

The boxes were filled Saturday morning as Military Moms members and community residents gathered at the Greenville High School library. Over 70 boxes were packed in just over an hour.

Randi Workman, program coordinator, said it was definitely a community effort with individuals, businesses and organizations donating items. She said the community provided great help and the Military Moms showed up in force. Local businesses donated money to cover shipping of the packages.

She said the Bond County soldiers look forward to the receiving the holiday care packages. Letters from local schoolchildren are their favorite items.

The boxes contain hygiene items, food, drink mixes, candy, phone cards, puzzle books or books to read.
