Elmer E. “Shorty” Prante, age 93 of New Douglas, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Heritage Health in Staunton, IL.

He was born on Friday, November 13, 1925 in Alhambra Township, Madison County, IL.

He was the son of William A. and Clara (Dieckhaus) Prante.

He was married to Erma L. Eilers on February 14, 1964 in New Douglas, IL.

Erma preceded him in death on Sunday, December 9, 1990.

Elmer served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from July of 1952 to May of 1954. He had attained the rank of Corporal. After his service he became a member of the Worden American Legion Post 564 and after his marriage to Erma he became a member of Tobias Bilyeu American Legion Post 710 of New Douglas, IL where he served as the Post Chaplain for many years.

He was last employed with the New Douglas Township retiring in 2013. Shorty had previously worked as a Teamster Truck Driver for Edwardsville Grain and Madison County Farm Service.

Elmer is survived by Nieces: Ruth Price, Bonnie Renner, and Joanie Mertz; Nephews: Richard Prante, William “Bill” Prante Jr., and Gerald “Jerry” Prante.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; his Wife; 1 Sister: Leona Albrecht; 5 Brothers: Erwin, Alvin, William “Bill” Prante, and brothers: Wilbert and Erhardt Prante who both died in infancy.

A Visitation for Elmer “Shorty” Prante will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the Lesicko Funeral Home located at 271 N 2nd Street in Livingston, IL 62058.

Funeral Services for Elmer Prante will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston, IL with Rev. Heath R. Curtis officiating.

Burial will be in the New Douglas Cemetery in New Douglas, IL.
