The Greenville University men’s and women’s basketball teams opened their new seasons over the weekend.
The Panther men split two games to finish third in the four-team Case Western Reserce Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio.
The G.U. squad began the campaign with a 132-113 loss against Centre (center) College of Kentucky.
In the third place game, the Panthers defeated Central Iowa 143-140.
Greenville’s Sontiago Grady was selected to the all-tournament team. He scored 55 points in the two tourney games.
The Panthers travel to the Chicago area this weekend to play North Central and Carthage.
The G.U. women’s team also played twice over the weekend, falling to Millikin University 81-74 and losing to Illinois College 90-85. Both games were played at Westminster College.
Emily Reinneck, a freshman from Lebanon, led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 29 points in the two contests.
The G.U. women play at home Thursday night against St. Mary of the Woods.
