The Greenville University football team won last Saturday’s battle for second place in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
Playing in Jacksonville, the Panthers defeated MacMurray 41-30.
G.U. is 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference with a home game at 1 p.m. this Saturday against Iowa Wesleyan.
At MacMurray, the Panthers trailed 3-0 after one quarter, but they controlled the second quarter to lead 28-22 at halftime. Former Greenville Comet, Christian Moss scored late in the half on a one-yard run.
Greenville expanded its lead to 41-22 through three quarters.
The Panthers piled up 284 yards on the ground and 250 yards passing. Quarterback George Harris completed 23 of 34 passes and threw 3 for a touchdown. Kyler Henson grabbed 7 of those passes for 117 yards.
Paul Garrett ran for 164 yards. Moss finished with 76 yards on 17 carries, and caught a three-yard pass.
The Greenville offense had the football over 41 minutes of the 60-minute game.
