Hudspeth Will Not Seek Reelection, Fields Announces Candidacy

John Hudspeth, State’s Attorney for Clinton County since December of 2008, announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election in the 2020 General Election. Hudspeth said he looked forward to having more time for recreational pursuits and spending more time with family.

Also Tuesday, David Fields, an Assistant State’s Attorney in Clinton County since 2015, announced his intent to seek the Republican nomination in the 2020 race for the Clinton County State’s Attorney seat.

Fields graduated from Illinois State University and attended law school at Southern Illinois University. He interned in the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office and, prior to working in Clinton County, served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Macon County.

He lives in Damiansville with his wife and three children.
