Injury Accidents In Fayette & Effingham Counties

Illinois State Police recently handled two accidents in the eastern part of our listening area.

The first occurred on I-70 near Vandalia. State police say a St. Louis man was driving a bobtail truck eastbound on 70 and was slowing take exit 61 into Vandalia when he was struck from behind by a semi driven by a Texas man. The driver of the bobtail truck was taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment of injuries. The semi driver was ticketed for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The second was a car/deer accident Thursday at 6:35 AM on IL Rt. 128 near County Road 1425 North, 5 miles south of Beecher City. 52 year old Andy Voelker, of Altamont, hit a deer and his pickup spun around to the right and struck an embankment. Voelker was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham for treatment of injuries.
