Maxine Apple


Maxine Apple, age 90, of Keyesport, passed away Thursday, October 24, in Cedarhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care, Greenville. A Celebration of Life for 90 year old Maxine Apple will be Tuesday, November 26, at 11 AM at the Tamalco Christian Church. Friends may call from 10 AM to service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to Duncan Cemetery. Young Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Maxine was born July 27, 1929 to Walter G. and Helen (Miller) Elam. She married Harold Duane Apple on September 19, 1948 at the Elam family farm. She is survived by her children: Beth (Bill) Gibson of Pensacola, FL and Brad (Kathy) Apple of Keyesport, IL; sister, Norma Jean Willeford of Greenville, IL; sister in law, Donna Elam of Keyesport, IL; grandchildren: Barbara (Tim) Koval of Marietta, GA; Zachary (Lindsey) Apple of Keyesport, IL; Leah (John) Tebbe of Highland, IL; great grandchildren: Avery, Luke, Addie and Bennett Koval; Dalton, Wyatt and Ellie Apple; and Gavin, Emmett and Beckett Tebbe.

Maxine grew up in the Keyesport area and attended Pleasant Grove School, a one room schoolhouse, up to the eighth grade, graduating from Carlyle High School. She started her own business, Maxine’s Beauty Shop, for 65 years, after graduating beautician school. She married Duane, started a family, was a homemaker, cooked, raised two children, and took care of her family. She also was a member of the Tamalco Christian Church in Tamalco, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter, Becky Gibson; and a brother, John William Elam.
