A New Baden Man was killed in an accident in St. Clair County Friday just before 3 AM.
State Police report a Freightliner semi truck was westbound on Illinois Rt. 161 and slowed to stop in the area of Interstate 64. A Kia Optima, driven by 31 year old Blake S. Rodgers, of New Baden, struck the rear end of the semi. Rodgers was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Neither the semi driver, nor his passenger – both from Tennessee – were injured.
