Numerous Thefts & Burglaries In Bond County


Law enforcement officers from the Bond County sheriff’s and Greenville police departments are investigating a string of thefts and burglaries that occurred over the weekend.

In Greenville, a car was stolen in the 500 block of Alice Avenue. The theft of the blue Chevy Equinox occurred between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 5:43 a.m. Sunday. City police told WGEL the car has yet to be recovered.

Approximately $240 worth of tools was taken from an unoccupied house in the 400 block of Spring Street. It was reported to police Sunday afternoon.

Sunday evening, the department was contacted by a resident on Alice Avenue that her vehicle had been entered.

Greenville Chief of Police Scott Workman reminds citizens to help themselves and lock vehicles and buildings.

The sheriff’s department received a report at 5 a.m. Sunday of a theft from a vehicle near Greenville. Later a report was received of a theft from a vehicle along Hillview Avenue near Greenville, and two thefts from vehicles occurred in Pocahontas.
