Two Injured In Head On Collision Caused By Smoke


Illinois State Police responded to a two vehicle collision on Moccasin Road near County Road 600 E in Effingham County Friday at 12:12 PM.

20 year old Devon L. Morlan, of St. Elmo, was traveling westbound and 52 year old Ross E. Cornett, of Altamont, was approaching eastbound when heavy smoke from a hay bale fire was crossing both lanes, causing limited visibility for both drivers.

The two vehicles proceeded through the smoke and struck each other head on.

Each driver was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham for treatment of injuries.

No citations were issued.
