The Greenville Comets opened their 2019-2020 basketball season Saturday afternoon in the Kaskaskia Classic at Carlyle.
Pinckneyville defeated the Comets 70-32.
After the Comets fell behind by 15 after one quarter, both teams scored 18 points in the second quarter and the Panthers led 37-22 at halftime. The Comets were outscored 33-10 in the second half.
Their next game in the tournament is 6 p.m. Wednesday against Freeburg. The game will be broadcast on WGEL and streamed at WGEL.com.
