Council Approves Contract & Raises

At its special meeting the night of November 25, the Greenville City Council approved a new contract with the Fraternal Order of Police and also granted raises to non-union employees.

City Manager Dave Willey told WGEL the contract covers four years. The pay changes are 3%, 2.5%, 2.25%, and 2% on the years the contract covers. The contract covers sworn officers, other than the chief, sergeants, and telecommunicators. Non-represented workers the unions don’t cover, such as part time staff; managers of water, sewer, street, and public works; and administrative staff, received raises ranged from 1.5% to 10%. The 10% increase went to a staff member that was behind on what that position normally pays.
