Vehicles Stuck In Floods, One Water Rescue

The steady rains Saturday lead to several flooded roadways in Bond County.

Local authorities received a report of a vehicle caught in floodwaters on Keyesport Road about a half-mile west of Sawmill Road Saturday at 7:15 PM. Keyesport and Greenville firefighters staged a water rescue to remove the vehicle’s occupants from the roof of the vehicle.

Another vehicle was caught in water at 10:39 PM Saturday on Metcalf Road in Pocahontas, but a water rescue was not required.

Local authorities and the National Weather Service remind you that it only takes a small amount of standing water to cause hazardous conditions for motorists. If you see water covering a roadway, remember the phrase, “turn around, don’t drown”.
