HSHS Medical Group is proud to announce its 2019 Annual C.A.R.E. Award winners! Established in July 2016, the C.A.R.E. Awards recognize colleagues who live the mission, vision and customer C.A.R.E. Standards of HSHS Medical Group. The award recipients were Guy Venuti, MD, provider of the year; Amber Ford, colleague of the year; and Stacey Brummer, manager of the year.
“We are proud to recognize Dr. Venuti, Amber and Stacey for living our mission and serving as an inspiration to us all,” said Melinda Clark, chief executive officer of HSHS Medical Group. “All winners and nominees are colleagues and providers in all locations and departments who embody our philosophy and core values, and they go to great lengths to put the patients first.”
Profiles of the Annual C.A.R.E. Award Recipients for 2019
Guy Venuti, MD – Provider of the Year
If you look up “altruistic” in the dictionary, you just might find a picture of Dr. Venuti, pediatrician at HSHS Medical Group Pediatrics – O’Fallon. This is the best word to describe someone who is so selfless and caring toward others. Dr. Venuti is self-sacrificing, connects with everyone with equal degrees of kindness and respect, goes the extra step for everyone and learns something new every day. Dr. Venuti’s positive outlook on life is contagious to those around him, and he tends to leave others in a better mood after interacting with them. Dr. Venuti also brings Christ into every visit, remembering that everyone has a back story.
When asked about his time with HSHS Medical Group, Dr. Venuti said, “I’ve never had such joy with a job, and that is due to an awesome group of colleagues.” He is inspired by his wife, who always remembers to put God and family first. When not working, Dr. Venuti loves to hunt, fly his drone, golf, fly fish and spend time with his family and dogs.
Amber Ford – Colleague of the Year
Amber is a registered medical assistant at HSHS Medical Group Family and Internal Medicine Maryville. She was nominated by colleagues who highlighted her genuine caring presence, exceptional care and willingness to do more.
“My favorite part of my job is getting the opportunity to help people feel better, whether that is by listening to them, assisting the provider for a diagnosis or just brightening someone’s day with a smile,” Amber said. “God has given me unlimited mercy, love and hope. It is my passion to try to express this to those surrounding me.”
Amber’s other passions include camping with her children, hiking and floating. She also loves singing and playing her guitar.
Stacey Brummer – Manager of the Year
Stacey is the director of operations and business development at HSHS Medical Group practices in Effingham. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of these practices and helps develop HSHS Medical Group services in the Effingham area, so the organization can best meet the health care needs of the community.
Stacey’s nominators noted that she focuses on the good in people and performs her job with true enthusiasm, joy and compassion. “She embodies selfless services and does it tirelessly,” one supporter said. “She is constantly thinking about others and putting them before herself. She doesn’t wait around for others to get their hands dirty and works alongside us.”
Stacey and her husband, Jeff, have three children. In their free time, they enjoy spending time together playing golf.
