Kay ‘Gibble’ Harris, age 83, of Mulberry Grove, IL passed away Friday, January 17, 2020, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center, Greenville, IL. A funeral service will be held at Young Funeral Home Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 11 am. Friends may call Tuesday, from 5-7 pm. Burial will be in Mulberry Grove Cemetery. The family requests, In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials are suggested to Bond County Hospice.
Kay was born on July 26, 1936 in Highland, IL to Herbert Milo and Mabel Louise (Miller) Wehrle. She married Rex Allen Harris on December 6, 1952 in Mulberry Grove, IL. She is survived by her husband; her daughters: Peggy (Lee Roy) Blankenship of Keyesport, IL; Dixie Harris of Vandalia, IL; and Shelly (Tim Ennen) Goodin of Smithboro, IL; sister, Leona Daum of Highland, IL; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, with one on the way.
She grew up in the Mulberry Grove area and was raised by her grandparents, Phillip and Mary Mae Wehrle, after her mother’s death, when she was an infant. After attending Seagraves and Mulberry Grove schools, she married and started her family. She worked at John Crane, Inc., for 30 years as an inspector. She enjoyed her walks, puzzles and her grand and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; a brother, Max Wehrle; and a sister, Imogene Graham.
