Health Department Reports Cash Surplus, Shares COVID Info

During this week’s Bond County Board of Health meeting, Health Department Administrator Sean Eifert reported a surplus in all three funds combined of $58,452.77. That leaves the department with a cash balance of $669,243.69. That amount is better than where the health department was last year at this time as well as two years ago at this time.

The board discussed the $817,000 contact tracing grant received through the Illinois Department of Public Health. The health department is recruiting contact tracers to coordinate with COVID-19 positive patients, work with close contacts of positive patients, provide education and referral services, and work with testing sites throughout the county. As part of the grant, the department will purchase vehicles. They will be seeking bids for those.

There was also discussion of the Local CURE program, through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which will allow the health department to submit for reimbursement of expenses related to COVID-19, not paid for through any other source, for the period March 1 through December 31 of this year.
