Track conditions were ideal on Saturday night at Highland Speedway as more than 50 cars came out for four classes of racing. Fast lap times and aggressive action dominated the evening as the program started one hour later due to temperatures in the 90’s.

In the UMP Steve Schmitt Late Model feature race, #6K Michael Kloos (Trenton) started on the front row and never looked back in winning his second feature of the 2020 season. #4 Jason Suhre (Highland) and #52 Matt Bailey (Highland) had a good battle for the other podium spots and finished second and third in the 25-lap race.

The domination continued this season for one local driver in the UMP O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Modified class as #24H Mike Harrison (Highland) won his second feature in as many weeks at Highland Speedway in a runaway performance. #84 Tyler Deibert (Highland) ran hard on the low line and finished second in the 20-lap race. In a late pass, #15 Chris Smith (Highland) rounded out the top three and won the $100 hard charger award provided by 7 West Bar & Restaurant for moving up three positions in the race.

In arguably the best race of the night, #787 Cody Zobrist (Highland) came back from the eighth position and made a late pass to take the win in the UMP Carquest Auto Parts ProModified class feature race. #66 C.J. Volluz (Troy) finished second and in a thrilling performance, #63V Cody Ventimiglia (Highland) banged around the ultra-fast high side of the track and nearly won the race, ending up third.

The Cheetah Mobile Device Repairs Street Stock class saw #9X Trevor Isaak (Highland) start on the fourth row and fight through tough competition to win his third feature race in four tries this season. The 12-lap race gave second place finisher #31H Marty Smith (Troy) his first top three finish at Highland Speedway this year and #70 Marc McClintock (Marissa) gained four spots to finish third.

Racing resumes at Highland Speedway this Saturday, August 1st with Race #5 of the 2020 racing season and Leaps of Love Night at the Races. Grandstands open at 5:30pm with races starting at 6:30pm for four classes of racing. More information can be found on the Highland Speedway Facebook page or by going to www.highlandspeedway.com.
