At a special meeting Monday afternoon, the Mulberry Grove Unit 1 Board of Education approved a return to school plan.
It has students being at school Monday through Thursday with remote leaning for everyone on Friday. Dismissal will be 2:10 p.m.
Superintendent Bobby Koontz said Unit 1 can have in-person instruction four days a week because of the lower number of students in the district.
Parents can still opt to have their children taught by remote learning. Koontz reported when a parent survey was conducted, about 15 percent indicated they favored remote learning.
Parents will officially have to make a decision and information will be issued soon regarding how that will be done.
Students at school will be required to wear a mask inside the building, and social distancing of at least three feet will be the rule in the classroom. Koontz said masks are not required outside as long as six-foot social distancing guidelines are followed.
The superintendent stated the plan is fluid, meaning the district will have to adjust if recommended guidelines change.
