Curtis Joseph “Curt” Thoele


Curtis Joseph “Curt” Thoele, age 76, of Carlyle, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.

He was born November 25, 1943 in Breese, the son of the late August and Lenora, nee McQuade, Thoele.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glen L. Thoele.

Surviving are his children, Brian Thoele of Mexia, TX, Donna (Thomas) Partain of Iuka, and Brenda (Tim) Douglas of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Holly Benson, Jacob Thoele, Laura Partain, Andrew Partain, Joseph Partain, and Jillian Thoele; great-grandchildren, Ava Benson, Jase and Emery Thoele; long-time companion, Laura, nee Johnson, Grapperhaus of Carlyle; and a sister-in-law, Mary Thoele of Carlyle.

Curt retired from Basler Electric in Highland after 31 years, where he served as the president of the workers union for 14 years. In addition, he was the former owner/operator of Curt’s Pit Stop, Flat Branch, and Main Street Saloon.

He was a member of the Beckemeyer Community Development Club (BCDC) and the Beckemeyer Washer Club. Curt was also a faithful American Red Cross blood donor since the 1960’s and was an organ donor. He enjoyed fishing, playing euchre, and visiting with friends.

A private funeral will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at Moss Funeral Home in Breese followed by a graveside service at 11:45 a.m. at St. Anthony Cemetery, Beckemeyer.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the funeral home.
