Highland Man Drowned In Missouri

A Highland man drowned Saturday in Missouri, according to the state highway patrol. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Dalton Newkirk, age 24, began to struggle in the water of the Huzzah Creek in Crawford County, MO, around 5:30 PM Saturday, when he went under and did not resurface. His body was later recovered from the water by family.

Dalton was originally from Clinton County and was a 2014 graduate of Central Community High School in Breese, where he played football and basketball all four years. He graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and had been working as a contractor at Scott Air Force Base. He was set to marry his fiancé in October.
