The Illinois general election is Tuesday, November 3.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Illinois legislators have given school children in the state another holiday.
For this year only, students and teachers will not have school on Election Day, November 3.
This was brought up during the recent Mulberry Grove Unit 1 and Bond County Unit 2 school board meetings. Unit 2’s revised schedule for the 2020-21 school year includes this holiday.
Mulberry Grove Superintendent Bobby Koontz said the holiday will be in Unit 1’s revised schedule when it is presented to the board.
Bond County Clerk Meg Sybert stated the legislative action was designed to help counties needing locations, such as school buildings, to maintain social distancing at polling places.
Sybert said Bond County will not be using any school buildings for polling locations.
