The Bond County Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser of the year has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
Paws In The Park was to be held in September but has been called off. Humane Society representatives said it was a difficult decision, but it was made for the health and safety of volunteers, participants and vendors.
It was reported the cancellation of the event puts numerous services at risk. These include the rescue of cats and dogs, animal adoptions and the low cost spay/neuter program.
The Bond County Humane Society is hoping to raise $4,000 by the end of September to insure services continue. It is suggested those who usually attend Paws In The Park, donate what they would normally spend at the event.
While there is no Paws In The Park, a 2020 t-shirt titled “Paws Outside The Park” is being sold as a fundraiser. They will be available as an online fundraiser through Bonfire.com. All shirt orders will be shipped at the end of the campaign, which will extend from August 29 through September 19.
Humane Society supporters can also be involved in an on-line fundraiser known as “Guess How Many Milk Bones In The Jar.” This is underway from now through August 27.
