The Special Service District board, which consists of Bond County Board members, met Tuesday morning and heard another presentation about ambulance service in the county.
Appearing before the SSD board were representatives from Abbott EMS, which also operates AIR EVAC, which has a location at the Greenville Airport.
Abbott is based in the St. Louis area and also services Effingham County.
This was the latest in a series of discussions by the SSD board regarding a potential new ambulance service as it evaluates the existing ambulance agreement with HSHS Holy Family Hospital.
The Abbott representatives presented a proposal that would have two ambulances available in Bond County, and they indicated there is no way such a service can support itself without a county subsidy.
It was mentioned there have been discussions about providing service to the area of the county only in the Special Service District, which does not include the Pocahontas-Old Ripley Fire District, and the entire county including Pocahontas-Old Ripley.
No action was taken by the SSD board.
