At its regular May meeting, the Bond County Community Unit 2 Board of Education took action on many personnel items.
Four retirements were accepted.
Teachers at the high school, Todd Cantrill, Jason Pierce and Todd Hutchinson submitted their retirement plans, effective the end of the 2025-2026 school year. The board agreed to grant Cantrill and Pierce an additional 75 days of sick leave days to complete their 35 years of service.
Hutchinson and Cantrill are also long-time coaches at the school.
The board also accepted the retirement of Kelli Cottrell, as a teacher at Greenville Elementary School, effective the conclusion of the 2026-2027 school year. She will receive an additional 100 sick leave days to complete her 35 years of service.
Resignations accepted by the board were for Jennifer Rinkel, as a Social Studies teacher at the high school; Rachel Holman, as a Pre-K teacher; Ashley Riechmann, as a paraprofessional at Greenville Junior High School; and Vaughn Robart as a school bus driver.
Ashley Schisler was hired as an art teacher at Pocahontas School for 72 days during the 2023-2024 school year.
The board also hired Anna Frank as a paraprofessional next school year, Amber Helige as assistant high school golf coach, Trent Bohannon, Grant Cox and Tanner Tomaschke as summer maintenance workers, and Gwynith Mitchell as a summer technology worker.
A motion was approved to change Emilee Niemeier’s work time from 180 days to 144 days as district speech language pathologist.
Leaves of absence were granted to teacher Christina Pashia and Ashlynn Renfro-Fritz, who serves as food service manager at Greenville Elementary and Greenville Junior High schools.
