Unit Two Board Hires HS Girls Basketball Coach

Greenville High School has a new head girls basketball coach.

At its May meeting, the Bond County Community Unit 2 Board of Education hired Paul Waitkoss as the girls basketball coach, and also as a special education teacher at the high school.

He replaces Quin Hammann as the coach, who resigned to take a teaching position in Carlinville, which is where he lives.

Waitkoss was last at West Carroll High School in Savanna, Illinois, located in the northwest corner of the state.  He had been at West Carroll since 2016, where he was a special education teacher and girls basketball coach.  Prior to that, he was a teacher and coached in various sports at other schools.

The hiring of Waitkoss was by a 4-0 vote with  Dylan Carr, Stephanie Gerl and Randi Workman absent.

In other personnel action, the board hired Jared McPeek as the Pocahontas head boys basketball coach, Shelly Huels as a school bus driver, Juliann Elam as a Greenville Elementary School paraprofessional,  Ryan Heath, Fletcher Manhart and Aidan Williams as district summer maintenance workers, and Gwynith Mitchell as summer technology worker.

The board accepted the resignations of Trevor Stoecklin as seventh grade boys basketball coach at Greenville Junior High, and Don Smith as head girls basketball coach at Pocahontas School.
