Greenville Fire Protection District firemen were sent to property in the 600 block of North Hena Street in Greenville about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Department personnel reported they were initially told there was an electrical fire in a structure.
Fire Chief Jim Sutton said when firemen arrived they saw heavy black smoke behind a house. He said the smoke was caused by a piece of patio furniture burning on the patio.
The department learned the property owner had allegedly been burning debris, and the fire spread to the patio. The flames eventually burned power lines in two, which were over the piece of patio furniture.
The house was not damaged. The fire department estimated damage caused by the fire at $250.
Firemen were on the scene about 25 minutes. Mulberry Grove, Pocahontas-Old Ripley and Smithboro firefighters provided mutual aid by standing by at their fire houses.
