National 4-H Week is coming up October 4th through the 10th, and Bond County 4-H is celebrating with a special open house for the community.
This year’s National 4-H Week theme is “Beyond Ready,” highlighting the ways 4-H helps prepare young people for their futures. The organization provides hands-on learning experiences through local clubs, camps, school programs and community activities.
4-H serves about six million young people nationwide. Members have opportunities to develop skills in a wide variety of areas, while also learning teamwork, communication, leadership and resilience. Locally, 4-H members participate in everything from county fair projects to community service efforts.
As part of National 4-H Week, members, alumni, volunteers and supporters across the country will wear green, take part in community service projects and share their 4-H experiences.
Bond County 4-H will host an open house Thursday, October 8th, from 5 to 6:30 PM at the Illinois Extension Office, located at 208 Academy in Pocahontas.
Current 4-H members and leaders will be there to talk about their experiences and help families learn more about the programs and opportunities available through Bond County 4-H.
