Dorothy R. “Dotti” Jolliff, age 88 of southwest of Greenville, passed away at 4:01 p.m. Thursday June 26, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Tom Ryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Donnell-Wiegand. For those who desire memorials in Dotti’s memory may be made to the Bond County Senior Citizen’s Center.
Dorothy Ruth Price, the daughter of Dudley Harold Price and Nellie Ruth Blessman Price, was born on July 4, 1925 in Mason City, IL. Dotti grew up there and attended the public schools moving to Patoka, IL in her youth where she graduated from Sandoval High School in 1943.
She worked for the Hollywood Candy Factory there. Following her marriage the family lived in Carlinville where Dotti was a telephone operator. The family moved to Greenville in 1965 where Dotti worked at the Greenville College Dining Commons for many years then for the Utlaut Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department. Dotti also had her own private catering business.
Dotti and Gene Jolliff were united in marriage on May 20, 1944 and have enjoyed over 70 years together. Gene survives as do their six children: Gayla (David) Greenwalt of Carlinville, Dan Jolliff of Houston, TX, Rod Jolliff of Pocahontas, Kurt (Tammy) Jolliff of Mulberry Grove, IL, Gwyn (Michael) Jolliff-Blake of Chicago, Brant (Wendy) Jolliff of Lawton, OK, two sisters: Lila Hoffman of Centralia, Margie (Richard) Arning of Farmington, MO, 16 grandchildren: Jeff Greenwalt, Jennifer (Mark) Flatley, Troy (Andrea) Greenwalt, Danette Jolliff, Jason (Katie) Jolliff, Jessica Jolliff, Jared (Angie) Jolliff, Kristin (Grant) Hentze, Jacob (Chelsey) Jolliff, Kate Jolliff, Kassidy Jolliff, Emma Jolliff-Blake, Rachael Jolliff-Blake, Kate Jolliff-Blake, Kyle (Erin) Jolliff, Heather Jolliff, and seventeen great-grandchildren: Chelsie, Alexandra, Ryan, Liam, Justin, Aiden, Josie, Avery, Jack, Lucas, Collin, Ryleigh, Brooklyn, Kamryn, Landon, Avery, and one soon to be born.
Dotti was a member of the Wednesday Bible Study Group and attended the Greenville Free Methodist Church.
