Matthew A. Hellmann

Matthew A. Hellmann, age 22 of Brownstown and formerly of Carlyle, died on Friday, July 4, 2014, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Hellmann was born on February 1, 1992, in Clayton, Missouri, a son of Randy L. and Lisa M. (Vogel) Hellmann. He graduated from Carlyle High School and earned an associate’s degree from Kaskaskia College. Matthew was currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in social work at Greenville College, and was a correctional officer at Vandalia Correctional Center. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle and loved bow hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and spending time with his family and friends. 

Matthew is survived by his parents – Randy L. and Lisa M. Hellmann of Carlyle; his brother – Michael A. Hellmann of Carlyle; his grandparents – James and Jeanette Vogel of Bartelso and Beverly Hellmann of Breese; and his fiancé – Ali L. Meyer of Brownstown. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Monday, July 7, 2014, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 8:00 – 9:30 A.M. 

Memorial donations in Matthew’s memory are suggested to Clinton County Senior Services and will be received at Zieren Day Funeral Home.
